So after being two hours late and missing our original flight- we arrived in Costa Rica with dreams of paradise in our heads. The $8 bus ride we saw online to take us to Puerto Viejo apparently want there; or left; or never existed? Not sure, really, but insert victor (picture to come) a nice older gentleman that knew every backroad in Costa Rica. For the cheap price of $250, he ( well, Henry- pic to come) would drive us there. We got him down to $210 and we reluctantly were off to get our kidneys taken or end up in paradise. Let me tell you, Henry is the best driver I have ever seen! I can’t explain how the 4 hour drive was but you couldn’t have bulldozed a straight pin up my rear while we were on the road. The driving here is completely different than the states. It’s weaving in and out in front of 18 wheelers like it was an action flick complete with bodies whipping side to side. To end it all, when we made it – it was dark and pouring rain. We walked to eat and got soaked but stopped to listen to heavy metal Costa Rican music (?) then went to the Lazy Mon bar. Being two hillbillies from the ozarks and not smoking weed made us stand out like a sore …….nevermind. Either way, we are enjoying the adventure and going to explore some tomorrow.
Also, electric current running near water for some reason makes me uneasy but I remembered that I am not home and maybe water and electricity can’t hurt you here. (I hope by now you get my sense of humor so I can quit explaining it). I’ll post more pics as we get them. Pura vida?
